Imam Ali al-Murtaza AS

Sat, 30 Apr 2005 14:54:27 Nabi Ibrahim (AS) Connects Mina and Ghadeer
Hadhrat Ibrahim AS was tested (ibtila) by Allah SWT and he passed.Allah SWT elevated his status to that of Imamah and granted him his request that his dhuriyyah (2:124) should also become Imam. This dhuriyyah is purified against all rijs (33:33) because Allah SWT says, “la yanalu ’ahdiddhalimiin” (My covenant does not include the unjust). Therefore, any naysayer of the concept of Infallible Imamah has forsaken The Qur’an and, on The Day of Judgment, The Prophet SAWW will lodge a plaint against such person (25:30). Nabi Ibrahim AS became Imam after he had rejected Satan’s instigations not to act on a dream. Thus, those who accept Imamah are shunning Satan. Those who reject Imamah must search their souls. Denying Imamah is following “Tiblisul Iblis” (Satanic Machinations) andagainst The Qur’an and the Sunnah. As the Hujjaj carry out the rites of the Hajj in the land of The Prophet SAWW, retracing the Sunnah of Nabi Ibrahim AS, they must see the Hajj in its fuller context. The Hajj does not end on 12th Dhulhijjah in Muna; rather, it goes on until 18th Dhulhijjah at Ghadir al-Khum for it was here, after his Farewell Hajj, that The Prophet SAWW complied with a revelation (5:67) that would validate his prophethood. This verse was a formal command from The Lord to His Apostle to deliver what had been revealed to him beforehand (53:10). Therefore, in an elaborate public pronouncement The Prophet SAWW declared the successorship of Imam Ali ibni Abi Talib AS and the Eleven Aimmah AS after him from the sons of Ali and Fatima AS to The Day of Judgment.
When The Prophet SAWW had delivered the message, Allah SWT stamped approval upon Al-Islam and declared it complete and expressed His satisfaction (5:3). Allah SWT is pleased only with compliance of His commandments. According to Suyuti, this verse was revealed 81 or 82 days before The Prophet SAWW’s departure from this world (12th Rabiul Awwal, according to his reckoning). This calculation brings us to 18th Dhulhijjah, and not 9th Dhulhijjah, when The Prophet SAWW is believed to have given his last sermon atop Jabal Al-Rahmah at Arafah. After this Ghadir pronouncement and the bakhhin and bay’ah by Ibnul Khattab et. al., recorded in history, the Saqifa that Ibnul Khattab called a falta, has no credibility. Only Ghadir leads one to The Right Path and to eventual Salvation. |
