The wound of February 22 2006 inflicted by criminal elements that blew up the Al-Askariyan Shrine in Samarrah has been reopened by the repeat of the crime, detonating the blasts, and bringing down the two slender golden minarets that flanked the dome's ruins at the century-old mosque.
This latest assault is a deliberate attempt by the perpetrators to sow dissent and inflame sectarian strife among the people of Iraq.
Imam Al-Khoei Foundation expresses its deep sorrow at this senseless inflammation of the sentiments of the millions of devotees of the descendants of Prophet Muhammad SAWW, Al-Imam Ali ibni Muhammad Al-Hadi AS , the Tenth Imam and Imam Hassan Al-Askari AS, the eleventh Imam whose shrines have been targeted again.
By blowing up the minarets the enemies have proven beyond doubt that these enemies of Al-Islam, Iraq and indeed humanity will stop at nothing. It is upon the peace-loving Muslims to condemn this atrocity unreservedly and send a clear message to the enemies that this is not a sectarian fight, but an assault upon all Muslims irrespective of their schools of faith who adhere to the teachings of The Prophet SAWW and The Qur'an.
Imam Al-Khoei Foundation offers its condolences to The Imam of The Time, Imam Mehdi AFS and to all devotees around the world and calls for sincere and earnest prayers for the perpetrators of this heinous crimes to be apprehended and brought to justice swiftly.
