Washington, D.C - A Delegation from the Al-Khoei Foundation met with Sayyid Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim on Dec 4th, 2007. The delegation was led by Sheikh Fadhel Al-Sahlani who is the director of the Foundation in New York and the North American Representative of Grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani. Sheikh Al-Sahlani informed Sayyid Al-Hakim of the activities the Foundation undertakes in propogation and defence of Islam and Muslims in North America. Sheikh Al-Sahlani also extended an invitation for Sayyid Al-Hakim to visit the Foundation, which was graciously accepted.

Sayyid Abdulaziz Al-Hakim is the son of the late Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Mohsin Al-Hakim (RA) and the head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council. He is also leading the United Iraqi Coalition which won the most votes in the January 2005 elections of Iraq. The Al-Khoei Foundation was established by the late Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Abul Qasim Al-Khoei (RA) in 1989 and is the largest Shi'a Muslim religious-charitable organization. The Foundation has more than 15 branches all across the world, where it is responsible for the maintenance of Schools, Colleges, Universities and Islamic Centers. The Foundation is the only Shi'a Muslim organization that enjoys a General Consultative Status with United Nations. |
