An annual peaceful rally against terrorism, oppression and injustice in Midtown Manhattan, New York was violently disrupted by terrorists posing as Muslims. A religious scholar was accosted by a group of terrorists as he was marching in this procession. According to a witness, a scuffle ensued because these mischief mongers manhandled the scholar and called him an infidel and also used abusive words against a dearly held saint, Imam Hussain AS (The Grandson of the Prophet Mohammad SAWW). Besides using abusive language they also brought placards and satirical portraits of venerable Islamic jurists to provoke the sentiments of Shiites who had gathered in the mourning procession.
Attackers can be seen carrying insulting photographs of venerable Islamic jurists, including one of Ayatollah Sistani
Prior to the scuffle the terrorists distributed inflammatory leaflets attacking the Shiites. One leaflet, brought to us by a witness, said, "Besides shirk (polytheism) in ruboobiyah (mastership) of God the Imami Shiites have also fallen into associating partners in the worship of Allah, shirk in uloohiya of Allah in other words ... One religion from which these liars heavily borrowed is Judaism where many elements of this religion that were abrogated by the Islamic religion, or elements of Rabbinical/Levite distortions which the Islamic religion oppose, found its way in to the Ithna Ashar'i (twelver) Shiite sect ... Shiism has legalized many matters which Allah(SWT) has made forbidden and which bears in its essence harm and misery. The legalization of Mut'a marriage (temporary marriage) which is a kind of prostitution, brings nothing but the degradation of women, the spreading of depression, worry, pain and illness for the parties involved as well as lack of supervision and care of guardianship for the children born from such relationships ... The legalizing of what Allah has made forbidden and vice versa, is another type of shirk in reference to his uloohia (Godhead). Allah admonished the Jews and the Christians and called them disbelievers, for '... taking their priests and rabbis as lords besides Allah' ... we invite you to the Aqeedah (belief) of Ahlul Sunnah (Sunnis)"
