Comment: Fri, 16 Jun 2006 16:49:04 - Is it not right for which individual to fulfil his/her desires and his aspirations? Perhaps not if they are not within the domain of nature and righteouness. Then , why should we be targetting muslims for veery wrong activity. I am a Hindu but I feel that there is no religion which encompasses such diversity within unity as Islam. It teaches selflessness. The targeting of muslims in Western countries is a part of a larger zionist conspiracy of elimination. The dual standard by some of the western nations are to well known..

Comment: Mon, 08 May 2006 15:44:17 - First of all, I would like to take this oppertunity to congratulate br. Ali Naqvi for his one of the kind analysis. No one (to the best of my knowledge) has ever done such analysis that shows the plight of Shias in muslim countries.
We can actually use the figures in this analysis to make a case in US and other media. We need to make sure that media talks about this. I would like to invite our friends (Shia and Non-Shia) who love Peace and Justice to take the initiative from here and present Shia case at every platform and help making this world a place where peace and justice prevails

Subject: Some More Statistics
Comment: Mon, 08 May 2006 00:21:05 - I have performed further calculations to determine the intensity of threat to Shias all over the world. Based upon the statistics from last two years, in any given year 1 out of every 17,000 Shias is at risk of dying from terrorism. While this ratio may not appear strikingly large, when compared with other religions it shows an astronomical progression. For example, if you are a Shia man, woman or child then your chances of getting killed by a terrorist act are: a) 414 times greater than if you are Sunni, b) 6 times greater than if you are Jewish, c) 201 times greater than if you are Hindu and d) 105 times greater than if you are Christian. These statistics don't include mass genocide or killings and only include killings by direct terrorist acts such as suicide bombings.
In modern history, no other nation has suffered more loss of life than Shias. Imposed wars, mass killings, genocide and terrorist acts have contributed to this loss. Unfortunately, the global community failed to notice these statistics. Time has come when justice should be awarded to Shias. After tolerating decades of atrocities against Shias, it is time when the whole global community should respond in one voice that Shias should be granted protection from all those who have harmed them in the past. Additionally they should be granted all means available to defend themselves against those who have a history of killing Shias. Shias should take the responsibility of defending themselves much more seriously than they have done in the past. America has sacrificed over 2400 lives to get rid of Saddam who was Shias’ worst enemy but such sacrifice cannot continue forever. Fairness demands that our military should not be expected to defend Iraqi Shia interest forever. But once our military returns home, Shias of Iraq must be in a position to effectively defend themselves against their enemies.

Subject: Next Steps for Iraq
Comment: Sat, 06 May 2006 19:17:36 - Current Iraqi administration and the Iraqi people deserve tremendous praise for bringing democracy to their land. Voting under the threat of Sunni extremist terrorism was a remarkably courageous act. Iraqi government now has the twin responsibility of correcting the injustices of the past and ensuring that the historical persecution of Shias is never repeated. The former implies giving historically disadvantaged Shias a greater share of the national wealth, greater opportunities in employment and education, and more access to financial resources. The latter implies making sure that the Sunni militant and extremists would never have access to weapons and would be completely disarmed. Given the historical barbarianism demonstrated by the Sunni groups, the balance of political and military power should be disproportionately shifted and maintained in the favor of Shias who have demonstrated that they can act responsibly despite being victimized for decades.
The problem of Shia persecution needs to be addressed not only in Iraq but also in several other countries. In the week of May 1st, 2006 Financial Times did a series of four articles on the condition of Shias in the Middle East. Their analysis is highly concerning as state sponsored persecution of Shias was identified as a common feature of several countries including Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. For example, article on Bahrain states “As parliamentary elections approach for the second time in four years, hopes for a political system that gives the Shia a fairer share of wealth, land and power have faded and for young Shia, the prospect of earning a decent wage remains bleak.” This is a country with 57% Shias who are being persecuted, cheated and harassed by the ruling 28% Sunni population. This is another example why Shias who are peace-loving and non-militant seek additional protection against the radical doctrines of Sunni extremist philosophies.
I have performed some high level analysis to breakdown the recent State Department NCTC report on terrorism in 2005 to determine the approximate Shia deaths in 2005. Of all the deaths i.e. nearly 14,600 people killed all over the world from terrorism – my analysis indicates that approximately 63% were Shias. Shias make only 2.5% of the total global population – yet their death rate from terrorism is about 26 times higher than their population proportion. Isn’t this data by itself enough of a reason to take several necessary steps to protect the lives and property of Shias all over the world?
