High-Powered Muslim delegtion meets the State Department

June 20th, Washigton, D.C. (Special Report) - A high-powered Muslim delegation from Al-Khoei Foundation met with senior officials at the US Department of State. The delegation, which was led by Syed Meesam Razvi of the Foundation, comprised of Syed Nadeem Kazmi, Director International Relations; Dr. Mohsin Alidina, Director of Education Services; Mr. Agha H. Jafri and Dr. Mehdi Abdullah.
According to the officials at the Foundation, the delegation was mandated to express its concerns regarding the curtailment of fundamental human rights by numerous countries. "We feel that many countries are just not doing enough to ensure that minorities have their right to practie their religion and express themselves", said Syed Meesam Razvi who is the Foundation's UN Representative in New York. "Shi'i Muslims in particular are oppressed almost everywhere regardless of whether they are a minority or a majority", he said.

Al-Khoei Foundation, established by Grand Ayatollah Al-Khoei (RA) in 1989, is the largest Shi'a Muslim religious-charitable organization. The Foundation has more than 15 branches all across the world, where it is responsible for the maintenance of Schools, Colleges, Universities and Islamic Centers. The Foundation is the only Shi'a Muslim organization that enjoys a General Consultative Status with United Nations.
